13 Nov Japanese Ink Painting and Art Book Publishing

/ 15:00 - 17:30

Dear Alumni,
You are invited to learn about Japanese ink painting and independent art book publishing with one of the members of our Swiss alumni community. It is an in-person event hosted by the Zurich Chapter.

Japanese Ink Painting and Art Book Publishing
November 13, 2021
Japanese ink painting (sumi-e) is a centuries-old tradition, handed down from master to students, as well as a daily meditative practice. Mafalda Tenente, MBA’06J, presents us her artist’s journey and her latest art book, The Tea House Diary, a creative notebook illustrated with a selection of her ink paintings. She will walk us through scrolls previously seen only in Tokyo. There will be tea and refreshments served, and a short hands-on introduction to Japanese ink painting for interested participants.
Since 2017, Mafalda has been exhibiting in Zurich and Japan. In 2020 she won the Judge’s Special Award at the international ink painting exhibition in Tokyo. In 2021 she participated in the world’s largest print show for works on washi in Tokushima. Join the private tour of her small exhibition at the Altstadhaus in Zurich’s old town and hear about her art and art book publishing journey.

Mafalda Tenente, MBA ’06J, Independent Board Member & Strategy Advisor
Mafalda serves on the board of Casino Interlaken AG and is advising leading premium consumer goods companies in healthcare, hospitality, and arts sectors, as well as start-ups.
