How GenAI can create and destroy value and values

How GenAI can create and destroy value and values
Geneva, Thursday 25 January 2024

Artificial intelligence promises to enhance human capability, streamline inefficiencies, and solve complex problems spanning healthcare, environmental sustainability, and beyond. The feats AI has achieved and the potential it holds are nothing short of astonishing.
However, with great power comes great responsibility. The risks are as real as the opportunities – ethical dilemmas, privacy concerns, and the potential displacement of jobs are but a few of the challenges that loom large on our horizon.

On Thursday 25 January 2024, the Geneva Chapter had the amazing opportunity to welcome two leading experts in the field, François Candelon, Global Director of the BCG Henderson Institute, and INSEAD professor Theodoros Evgeniou, for a fireside chat in Geneva on the theme pf “How GenAI can create and destroy value and values”.

Moderated by Fabio Annovazzi, MBA’90J, this fascinating point highlighted a number of key points:

  • Depending on the context, generative artificial intelligence can create, but also destroy value.

  • Wisdom and great care are essential when using this technology. Control is key to avoid unwanted outcomes.

  • Generative AI is here to stay and will disrupt many business processes and industries. It is important to start understanding this technology today as it could lead to competitive advantages tomorrow.

  • The long term impact of Generative AI on society is unknown and uncertainties remain as to the extent of its use in our daily lives.
